Pokka is well-entrenched in the F&B scene backed by over 30 years of experience in the beverage industry and more than 16 years in restaurant and food outlet management. Today, our ‘POKKA’ brand enjoys prominent visibility among beverage consumers in Singapore and overseas. We believe Pokka ranks among the leading brands in Singapore’s ready-to-drink (RTD) tea and juice categories. We have also successfully extended our POKKA brand into the restaurant arena as demonstrated by our established chain of Pokka Cafés in Hong Kong and Macau. Combined with our other proprietary restaurant brands, we currently operate more than 25 restaurants and food outlets in Asia.
In Singapore, our beverage products reach consumers via comprehensive marketing channels that cover major supermarkets, convenience stores, petrol kiosks, F&B outlets and provision shops located island-wide. We also have a growing network of POKKA vending machines at shopping malls, corporate offices, factories and bus-stops. For the overseas markets, our POKKA beverages are sold through local distributors in more than 50 countries across Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
The growth of our restaurant business is underpinned by our novel food menus, quality service, and notably our ability to secure attractive locations. Today, Pokka has restaurants and food outlets in Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau, most of which are situated at accessible spots with brisk consumer traffic.
At the heart of Pokka’s growth is our dedication to constant product innovation. By staying attuned to diverse and changing consumer tastes across different markets, we continually develop new beverages that are tailored to suit local preferences. We have a food technologist from Japan as a research specialist in our Group’s beverage research and development (R&D) team. At present, our R&D team has developed more than 40 varieties of RTD beverage products that are sold in different markets around the world.
The innovative culture at Pokka is also reflected in our restaurant business which has an extensive portfolio of distinctive brand concepts to capture a broader spectrum of the consumer market. To name a few, we have the café concept under ‘Pokka Café’, authentic Japanese cuisine under ‘Tonikichi’, fusion-style restaurant ‘Pasta Café’ and specialty dessert outlet ‘Rive Gauche’. Besides emphasising creativity in the design of each of our outlets to offer a distinctive ambience, we also regularly introduce new culinary creations to provide fresh dining experiences and cater to consumers’ changing tastes.
Over the years, our strategy has been to continually invest in new technologies to build a state-of-the-art beverage manufacturing facility. Pokka is believed to be the first beverage manufacturer in Singapore to invest and operate the aseptic PET bottle filling system, which enhances the quality of our beverages. We are also continually making improvements to our production efficiency through investments in process automation as well as capacity expansion to keep pace with the demand for our beverage products.
To ensure consistency in the quality of food and reap economies of scale, we employ a central kitchen concept for our restaurant operations in Hong Kong and Singapore. Our recently expanded central kitchen in Hong Kong has the capacity to support up to 30 restaurants in the territory.
As a testament to our adherence to stringent quality, hygiene and food safety standards, our beverage manufacturing processes have been awarded several accreditations. These include the ISO 9001:2000, ISO 22000:2005, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard Food certifications.
Pokka was the first Singapore beverage manufacturer to attain the BRC Global Standard Food Grade ‘A’ certification which is considered one of the most stringent industry qualification and enables our beverage products to be listed with major hypermarts in the United Kingdom (UK). Pokka is also one of few Singapore beverage manufacturers to be recognised as an European Community (EC) approved establishment, which permits us to export dairy-based products to the UK and European Union. These stamps of approvals provide Pokka with an early mover advantage in Europe.
